Angela Pau is a British born fiber artist. After a career as a floral designer in the U.K, New York and Los Angeles, she relocated to Joshua Tree, California. Her move to the high desert shifted her creativity from flowers to fiber. Self taught, her work is informed by the surrounding nature, its textures and colors.

Angela’s pieces are woven on a tapestry loom, rigid heddle loom, or entirely by hand utilizing techniques from macrame, crochet, and knitting.

The slow, meditative nature of her one-of-a-kind weavings provide a contrast to our fast paced modern life and mass produced goods. She strives to use only minimally processed, natural fibers honoring the materials and embracing the beauty of imperfection.

One of our favorite PAU pieces is “Ligare,” an asymmetrical hand-woven wall hanging made from twisting and turning undyed cotton knots, creating a beautiful landscape of natural fibers that works perfectly above a bed, sofa, or anywhere the natural beauty of the desert feels right at home.
