Founded in New York City in 2000 by designer Sandy Chilewich and her partner, architect Joe Sultan, Chilewich began with a single humble object—the placemat—and grew into a celebrated home-textiles brand. After becoming captivated by the beauty and durability of extruded, woven yarns, Sandy built a studio whose signature TerraStrand® weaves reimagined how tables are set and floors are covered. Today the collection spans placemats, runners, coasters, rugs, shag and floor mats, and wall textiles, all known for their inventive patterns, multi-tonal color, and easy, wipe-clean care. Designed at the brand’s NYC studio and woven entirely in the United States, each piece contains renewable vegetable content and is engineered to keep its beauty through decades of everyday use—an enduring blend of artistry, function, and sustainability.
