1934 Telechron, Steel / Off White & Black
By AV86
In 1934, the second pusher on a chronograph was invented — enabling instant reset and opening successive precision measurements. The 1934 Telechron is named for that invention and carries a complication rarer than the chronograph itself: a telemeter scale, originally used to calculate the distance of artillery fire by timing the gap between visible flash and audible bang. A functional relic of another era, worn on the wrist today. Start the chronograph when you see the flash. Stop when you hear the sound. Read the scale.
The Miyota 6S21 quartz chronograph uses a bi-compax layout — horizontal subdials at 3H and 9H — that frames the telemeter scale cleanly. Stopwatch and date functions included. ±20 seconds per month, 3–4 year battery. The Off White & Black two-tone dial has the graphic clarity of vintage field instruments. 42mm case machined from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel from Finland — corrosion-resistant, durable, skin-safe. Domed sapphire crystal, Mohs 9 hardness, with double anti-reflective coating. 5 ATM water resistance. AV86's own choice as their best design since the brand's founding.
