Mungo weaves cotton and linen textiles at its own mill in Plettenberg Bay on South Africa’s Garden Route. Every stage happens under one roof, from warping the yarn through weaving, finishing and hemming, which is rare in an industry built on outsourcing and lets the studio design at the loom rather than on paper.
Our collection covers the pieces we return to most. The Vrou-Vrou is a full-size waffle-weave blanket with a chameleon quality, reading differently with every fold. The Double Cloth blanket and cushion use a reversible construction that puts a different design on each face, so one piece does the work of two. The Picnic Blanket comes with a leather carry strap for the beach or the park, and the Skipping Block cushions are woven in a Monk’s Belt pattern, an old hand-weaving structure rendered in bright, contemporary color.
