1956 Marine Automatic, Steel / Blue Fade
By AV86
In the 1950s, diving changed forever with the first purpose-built dive watches — critical tools that divers relied on for timing and safety underwater. The 1956 Marine Automatic is AV86's tribute to that era of innovation. A sandwiched dial with round hour markers and signature cut-outs at 12H and 6H, Super-LumiNova throughout for true dark legibility, and a ceramic bezel — virtually unscratchable, colour-stable over years of sun and salt — making its first appearance in the AV86 collection.
The 41mm case is machined from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel from Finland, the same steel grade used in surgical implants and precision marine equipment. Domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating — Mohs 9 hardness, resistant to scratches that would mark mineral glass. At 200m / 20 ATM, this is a genuine tool diver. The movement is a Miyota 8215 automatic: 21 jewels, 28,800 vph, 42-hour power reserve, self-winding rotor, date display. The Blue Fade dial shifts from deep navy at the outer edge to lighter blue at the centre — like open water catching morning light.
