1956 Marine, Steel / Light Blue Watch
By AV86
In 1956, the French Navy's Marine Nationale acquired their first purpose-built divers' watches — a milestone that became legend in watch collecting history. The 1956 Marine is AV86's celebration of that moment: straight lugs, an acrylic-filled bezel, and oversized Super-LumiNova markers recreate the visual language of those original tool watches. The wave-textured dial, with signature cut-outs at 12H and 6H, adds depth that shifts with light throughout the day.
The case is machined from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel sourced from Finland — the same grade used in surgical implants and marine environments for its exceptional corrosion resistance and skin-safe properties. The crystal is domed sapphire, which scores 9 out of 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it virtually scratch-proof in everyday life. A double anti-reflective coating ensures clarity at every angle. Inside runs a TMI VH31 quartz movement with sweep-seconds — delivering the fluid motion of a mechanical watch with quartz reliability. 41mm. 200m / 20 ATM water resistance — genuinely dive-rated. The Light Blue colorway brings a calm, coastal clarity to the silhouette.
